Getting ready for a 3day craft event in a nearby village and needed to get back to my beading roots. The event is all about demonstrating your craft and very child focused so I thought the best way to engage the little ones would be the same thing that had me pick up beads for the first time. I am in the middle of making herds of beaded animals and this got me collecting patterns in the last few weeks resulting in a pinterest album with well over 100 free patterns. Impressive, isn't it? :)
It would be a shame to keep this a seecret so here it is for all to see:

If you would like to meet me and learn a few basic beading tricks, this is the event you can find me at over the Bank Holiday.

These are just because I've wanted to use those large burnt orange beads for a long time now.

With the end of school year quickly approaching I thought I'd make some fun teacher gifts. How do you like my apple charms? Teacher friends, would you wear them as earrings? Wouldn't they be fun for the first day of school? :)

Teardrop Charm Pendant

This charming teardrop shaped pendant looks so easy to do but trust me it's not!

Found the pattern on pinterest by Beadapple and even though she says herself she had tried (3 times) doing it a "simpler" way than the Original Pattern  and failed, I thought there must be a way Alma hasn't though of. It took three tries on my part too and about 4hours but at the end I did it. :)
The original pattern starts at the top and I found it a bit hard to follow but after I had one finished (undoing it two times) it was easy to start at the bottom using my existing pendant. It saved me half an hour work even if I don't count the experimenting at the beginning.

If you don't feel up to the challenge you can buy the pendant in black and gold on a long gold plated chain in my Etsy Shop.

Contemporary "Daisy Chain"

I have been thinking of new contemporary ways of using old patterns.
I went back to the very beginnings. Everyone who has ever had a go at bead weaving probably knows how to make this chain. It is usually called daisy chain but I only used one colour to keep it simple and elegant and just kept going and going. I love that the extra length makes it possible to be worn so many different ways.
I am also thinking of doing it with silver or gold stripes or even zigzags. :)

So, what do YOU think?
